BIM, a four years (eight semester) programme of Trubhuvan University, is a blend of IT and management courses. Nowadays, the entire organizational concept has been computerized and this has been a global phenomenon. Under such circumstances, no one can achieve perfection without the knowledge of information technology and proper management of information. So, BIM is basically the application of Information Technology in managerial pursuits. It is a degree that really works to raise you up to the costliest and the best of IT managers with a well co-ordinated synthesis of computer applications as well as your managerial skills.

mission and objectives

The mission of the Bachelor of Information Management ( BIM ) program is to develop socially responsible, scientific approached and result-oriented IT professionals. The BIM program is designed to equip graduates with specific skills and attributes required to be an efficient technocrats. The specific objectives of the program are to:

  • Prepare IT professionals proficient in the use of computers and computational techniques in order to develop an effective information system to solve real-life problems in the organizational milieu.
  • Develop a student's skills in object-oriented software design methods and data management systems.
  • Provide professional training to students by combining information technology with managerial skills.
  • Prepare students to proceed on to postgraduate level study in information management within and outside the country.

The completion of BIM opens a wide horizon for the student with multiple future options for advance study and rewarded employement. The BIM graduate commands central role in information management of an organization. Being a software engineer with managerial insights, the student is expected to be providing crucial support to all functional areas as well as strategic management. The student, in particular, is expected to play a key role in the MIS function of the organization. In addition, BIM graduates can find the diversity of jobs that exist for them including Software Engineers, System Analysts, Designers, Network Administrators, Database Administrators, Web Developers, Managers, IT Officers, Instructors, etc. The graduates can apply for MBA program, MIS or other areas as well as MS in Computer Science or Computer Information System.

Grading System

Examination, Evaluation and Grading System The BIM program will be executed through the semester system.There will be altogether eight semesters required to complete the regular program. The internal(on going) evalution shall carry 40 percent weight while the external (end of semester) examination shall carry 60 percent weight. The final grade shall be determined on the overall performance in internal and external examinations Passing Grade and Grading System Students must secure a minimum of grade 'C' or Grade Point Average(GPA) of 2.0 in the internal evalution in order to qualify to appear in the semester examination. The passing grade in the semester examination for an individual paper is also grade 'D' or GPA of 1.5.In order to pass the semester examination the student must secure Grade 'C' or the average Commulative Grade Point Average(CGPA) of 2.0. Students who secure a Semester Grade of 'D' is not promoted to the next semester. he grading system shall be as follows:
